Free Image Tools That Never Upload Your Photos

Resize a photo for a social media post or a job application portal, shrink a JPG before you email it, crop it to a square, or add a watermark before you share it. These image tools work on common formats like JPG, PNG and WebP using your browser's built-in canvas, so your photos stay on your device and are never uploaded to a server. There is no signup and nothing to install.

The resizer can process a whole batch of images at once and hand them back as a single ZIP file, with presets for common social media sizes. Other tools cover quick fixes like rotating, flipping, adding borders and adjusting brightness, plus a few for web work, such as turning an image into Base64 code or cleaning up an SVG file.

Two honest notes: the background remover clears solid-color backgrounds, like a product on white, rather than cutting people out of busy photos, and Image to SVG wraps your picture in an SVG file instead of tracing it into vector shapes. To change a file's format, use the image format converter, and to put images into a PDF, use Image to PDF.

Convert iPhone photos and pull text from images

Turn HEIC photos from an iPhone into JPG or PNG, or copy the words out of a screenshot or scanned page with OCR. Both run in your browser.

Resize, compress and crop images

Get an image to the exact dimensions or file size a website, form or social network asks for. The compressor shows a side-by-side preview and the new file size before you download.

Rotate, flip and adjust colors

Straighten a sideways photo, mirror a selfie, or fix brightness, contrast and saturation with a live preview and one-click filters like grayscale and sepia.

Watermarks, borders and backgrounds

Add a text watermark to protect your photos, frame a picture with a colored or Polaroid-style border, or make a solid background transparent and save the result as a PNG.

Screenshots, memes and GIFs

Put a screenshot on a gradient background with padding, rounded corners and a shadow, add classic top and bottom meme text to any picture, or save the first frame of an animated GIF as a PNG.

Images for websites and code

Turn an image into a Base64 data URI for HTML, CSS or JSON, strip comments and editor data out of SVG files to make them smaller, or wrap a bitmap in a single SVG file. Need a site icon? The favicon generator makes one from text or an emoji.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce an image's file size without losing quality?

Two steps do most of the work. First, resize the image to the largest size it will actually be shown at, since a photo 4,000 pixels wide on a page 1,200 pixels wide wastes most of its bytes. Then save it as JPG or WebP at around 75 to 85 percent quality, where the loss is usually hard to see. The image resizer and image compressor handle both, and the compressor shows the size before and after.

Can I remove the background from a photo of a person?

Not well with this tool. The background remover makes one background color transparent: you click the color, adjust the tolerance and download a PNG. It works best on product photos, logos and signatures on a plain background, not on people in front of busy scenes.

Does converting a JPG or PNG to SVG make it a vector image?

No. Image to SVG places your picture inside an SVG file as embedded data, so it is still made of pixels and will blur if you enlarge it a lot. That is useful when a system only accepts SVG or you want one self-contained file. Turning a picture into true vector shapes is a different process called tracing.
